Good Grief!

A Death Café, Bookstore, and Digital Community

Accessible Death Ed. and Grief Care

Good Grief! provides grief-related books 📚, a café with hand-selected goods ☕️, digital educational materials and resources 🖥️, and events like Death Cafés 🎪. With an inclusive approach to mortality, Good Grief! aims to educate and support individuals in navigating the topic of death and grief.

Life and Death, One Page at a Time

By creating a community of grievers, book-lovers, coffee drinkers, personal-growth seekers, thanatologists, palliative care workers, educators, and others united in mortality, we are all given the opportunity to learn alongside and from others in our community.

Services Offered

Books 📚

Especially if you don’t want to talk to anyone, Good Grief! provides a selected list of grief- and death-related reading materials. Included in our catalogue will be titles across all genres, based on the nature that sometimes grief care includes taking a break and reading a book for fun, regardless of the messages. Special attention will be given to queer, BIPOC, women, Indigenous, and under-represented minorities in fiction and stories.

Café ☕️

Focusing on fair trade and sustainable sourcing, the Café will provide drinks, sweets, pastries, and food with rotating themes and flavors. For example, opportunities to nominate baked goods or other dishes that remind customers of their loved one may be provided, within reason. Other food-and-drink–based opportunities are still to be revealed.

Digital 🖥️

The website will provide accessible materials to death-related care and education, including:

  • Themed modules (Talking with Children about Death, Cultural Perspectives, Philosophy—Grievability, etc.)
  • Additional care (therapists, grief support groups, clinics, etc.)
  • Organizations (funeral homes, academic departments in Thanatology, conferences, legal help, etc.)
  • Literature (academic journals, general nonfiction, popular psychology, writing journals, fiction, etc.)
Events 🎪

The center piece of Good Grief! is the Death Café, a nonclinical and group-directed discussion about death without any specific topic. This space will combine an open and inviting atmosphere with a safe space–approach to host Death Cafés, readings, workshops, or locally lead events.
